Level One Foundational Skills - 3 weeks
Our Foundation Board & Train Program is a 3 week stay designed to teach essential skills every pet dog needs for a smooth life at home. This program focuses on leash-based training, ensuring reliable behavior at home.
During their stay, your dog will learn:
- Sit/Stay
- Down/Stay
- OFF (Greeting politely)
- Wait (Doorway & car boundaries)
- Come When Called
- Walking Nicely on a Leash
- Settle in the House/Place
- Go to Crate Cue
- Positive & Negative Marker Words
This program is $2500 and provides a strong foundation for your dog. The program cost includes leash equipment, a go-home private lesson, and 3 months of free group classes afterward to ensure your dog’s success.
*We require a consultation prior to booking to make sure the dog is a good fit, and a non-refundable deposit is required at that consult to book your boarding dates.

- Increasing stays to 30ft, 10 mins in duration, in distracting locations
- Greeting Strangers Politely in Public
- Ignoring Other Dogs in Public
- Heel with Auto Sit (under distraction in public)

- Multiple Training Trips Out to Practice And Proof Behaviors in Public
- Off Leash Recall
What is a Board and Train?
A Board and Train style of training means that your dog stays with an experienced trainer and learns the obedience skills directly from them. This option leads to a strong foundational of training and yields fantastic results when combined with classes or private sessions to teach the owner how to utilize the dog’s new skills!
What Makes Our Program Exceptional?
Traditional Board and Train often results in the dog returning to old behaviors after they return home, because the owners don’t know how to USE the skills the dog has learned. Our Hybrid Program offers ample follow-up time through private go home sessions, unlimited assess to our drop in classes (for owners local to us), access to our online training video courses and unlimited phone and email support for THREE FULL MONTHS after your dog returns home.
Many Board and Training Programs rush the dog. Anyone offering Off-Leash obedience training in 2 weeks isn’t teaching a solid foundation. We want your dog to truly understand what is expected of them and absorb the new things they are learning! That’s why our programs are longer than other options.
Why is this training more expensive than other options?
Hounds Tooth Academy offers training options for every budget. In Board costs more than the other options because it requires so much more of the trainers time and skills! During our Board and Train program, your dog lives with us. They don’t stay in a kennel building 20 miles from us. They are on our property, in our homes and learning all the time! We structure in training time, rest time, exercise, play time and training trips. It’s a huge time investment on our trainers part, and it yields a huge pay off! Your dog comes home with completely new skills, ready for you to put into practice in your life. It can take a 100 or more repetitions for a dog to fully master each skill. Unlike group classes or private sessions where YOU have to perform those 100 repetitions, during In-Board WE are laying that foundation. You still have to work with your dog, of course. But the “heavy lifting” is already done!
